Dead´s Day is one of the most popular traditions here in Mexico.
The "objective" of this tradition is to remember those people that aren´t now with us; it is common to make an "ofrenda" like tribute to the dead people with things that they used to eat or drink while they were alive like tacos, mole, chicken, beers, cigarrets, coffe, water, etc.
Its is also common that kids go out to streets at night in November 1st to ask for candies fruit and in some cases money at the houses of all the neighborhood like in Halloween.
On October 27th, Prepa 1 celebrated Dead´s Day, students went to school disguised with the most common characters, like The Devil, Chuckie, The Catrina, Skulls, Mummies, etc; and some groups put a Thematic Ofrenda related with the most recent and popular deads like for example the Steve Job´s ofrenda that was like a postmortem award for that smart man, Steve Jobs.
By Conclusion...
Dead´s Day is a very thypical, cultural and popular traidition for this country becsuse it represents all the dead people that was important for each one of us and... now they are gone, so its like a pretty way to remember those people by putting to them te ofrendas and disguising ourselves with those famous dead´s day monsters.
